No.10: Enjoy a morning street-side picnic

Tops on my list of romantic settings are bakeries. I love them– especially if they remind me of Europe.

Meet Luca of Shadeau Breads, the young man I instantly fell in love with because he has the same name (spelled differently) as my son.

Now meet the pastries:

Shadeau Breads in the Over the Rhine neighborhood of downtown Cincinnati reminds me of something I would find on a backstreet of Paris or Berlin– a treasured place of fresh baked goodies that only locals know about. Shadeau doesn’t even have a website, but their Bear Claw made it into Travel + Leisure as one of the 4 dishes not to miss when visiting Cincinnati.

Shadeau Breads is an Old World Bakery of the best kind- tiny, warm, and full of fresh baked breads and pastries.

Delivered up by lovely bakers:

This was the perfect place for our Mini-Mission No. 10: Enjoy a morning street-side picnic.

The Over the Rhine neighborhood-where it is located- is colorful and charming, and surprisingly quite on a Saturday morning.

I loved the bright posters and paintings on the side of buildings in this downtown neighborhood:

Before we left Shadeau, we bought a loaf of the sourdough bread to make it into sandwiches later.

Just a few slices of provalone cheese and this simple sandwich was delicious. (A perfect snack for the drive back to Lexington):

Shadeau Bakery is located 1336 Main Street, Cincinnati, OH 45202. Here is the link to their address on Google Maps.

I love this idea, it looks like so much fun.

This outing seemed a little boring, but hope you had a thrilling time. This is something I do almost everyday, so not too exciting or out of the ordinary for me.
This is a great idea. BTW, you might love Luca, but I love those pastries and breads. Yum!
