What is a Mini-Mission?

The Bluegrass Romance project is about 52 mini-missions. What is a mission and why is it called mini?
So glad you asked!
Missions can be religious, diplomatic, or personal in nature. Bluegrass Romance missions are the personal kind.
One way Webster’s dictionary defines missions is this:
a specific task with which a person is charged; a preestablished and often self-imposed objective or purpose .
My ”pre-established and self-imposed purpose” here is adventure and romance…and how I might bring both of these things to my life and my family here in the Bluegrass, through these weekly mini-missions.
“Mini” means the missions are bite-size, doable, capable of being tackled from where I am at now, no jet-pack, embassy, or cat-suit required.
So What makes a good Bluegrass Romance mini-mission?
A). It takes place somewhere in the Bluegrass (see map).
B). It’s something that loosely can be described as adventurous and/or romantic. (Adventure is anything I haven’t done before and romance is anything that offers great or small indulgence- shared with a loved one, or enjoyed alone).
C). It challenges me to step outside my comfort zone.
D). It pushes me and my whole family to connect deeper to the community we live in, through service, celebration, or participation.
E). Preferably is a free activity, or at the very least, doesn’t require us to dip into Lucca’s college fund. Except for mini-mission #1 (see below) because I’ve always wanted to do something as crazy as this, and I’ve decided this project is the perfect guise in which to actually do it).
Do you have an idea for a mini-mission to be done in or around the Bluegrass? Please share it with us here.
Curious why I am doing this project? Maybe this will answer some of your questions.
